Uppermill Under 11's 6th game

It was 4th in the league against 3rd in the league which promised to be a good match. Uppermill looked up for the game and were eager to get going. We started the match very well challenging Oldham to every ball. It was a real scrap in midfield where we started to take control of the match working hard and good tackling. The defence was looking very strong, keeping Oldham limited to there own half. We were looking very good as a team. Oldham took the lead after a short while with a good passing move to leave a shot which keeper Jack saved the shot but lost control of the ball to stop on the line but the ref gave a goal. Unlucky Jack keep your head up. We kept going, as we started and pressured Oldham all over the pitch. The work from the team was great having a lot of good attempts on goal but couldn't find the net. Oldham 1-0 Uppermill half time. We had a team talk and got ourselves up for the second half. Straight from the whistle we got right at Oldham and piled the pressure on, making some good chances for the strikers. Lewis found a nice bit of space and set himself up for a nice powerful shot only to be saved with a good save from Oldham's keeper, the ball bounced to Matt Pazos and he chested the ball under control and smashed home Uppermill's 1st goal. The team was really up for the game and kept pushing forwards. Aidan picked up the ball and had a great run into the box where the  defender fouled him giving Uppermill a penalty. Ben stepped up to the mark and finished with a great strike which gave the keeper no chance, nice finish Ben. Good run Aidan. The match turned a little scrapy in the dieing minutes but we kept strong and hold onto the 2-1 lead. Well deserved win boys, excellent team efforts.

Nick was fantastic playing centre back and was a real joy to watch him enjoying his football. His tackling was great, he kept his eye on Oldham's strikers and did some great clearances , excellent Nick keep it up.

Ben and Toby in midfield were the 2 engines of the team, working hard up and down the pitch, good work again. Brilliant every week.

Cole , Sam and Aidan worked the wings hard looking to get at Oldham's defence causing them problems.

Will, Fin and Jake were strong again the defence was well organised and very hard to beat.

Matt Tetlow did some of the best tackles on the pitch getting real stuck in smallest lad on the pitch with the biggest heart, like a little jack russel.

Matt Pazos and Lewis worked hard chasing everything down upfront, good work rate lads.

Subs Matt Simpson, Joe and PJ tried hard when they came on , well done you three lets keep improving.
