Under 15s 20/11/11
Uppermill travelled across to a foggy 2nd Division Honley in the cup with high hopes after two good performances.
Despite ending up 7-1 down this was a good effort by the lads who never gave up and played some really good football.
Mill started brightly and Wilson tested the keeper wthin the first five minutes, things were looking good as we passed the ball about. However a long ball over the top on the big pitch saw a Honley player race through to score and they soon went 2 up. Uppermill continued to play well and create chances but Honley's pace and power were always a threat and Mill went in 4-0 down at half time.
We soon conceded again after the break but the lads kept battling and the introduction of Heald and Royle added some pace. Honley continued to punish Mill with some good finishing and we ended up 7-0 down until Brad Wardle stepped off the bench to unleash a great shot to give us a well deserved goal.
This was a strange result gived the football Mill played, a 5-3 loss would have been a more fair reflection.
Although Mill were virtually the equal football wise, Honley were much quicker and powerful in most areas, something we need to improve on with some big games coming up.
