Uppermill 5 - 2 Force United
'Mill kicked off knowing that 4 more wins would see them to the title, however, this fixture proved to be alot more tricky than anticipated.
'Mill had the best of the opening exchanges with Garbutt & Fielding both coming close, however, it was the visitors who took the lead when the ball was fed into the feet of the Force front man, who held off his marker, before a neat turn and finish left keeper Moores with no chance.
'Mill where then on the back foot for long periods as Force used there superior pace to stretch the 'Mill backline, with Keeper Moores being called into action on more than 1 occasion to keep the score to 1.
'Mill equalised, arguably against the run of play, when a quickly taken free kick from Matt Harrop down the right hand channel, found Elliott Fielding, who raced clear before lashing home to draw things level.
Normally 'Mill wouldve put there opponents to the sword, however, end of season nerves kicked in, and a long ball forward was misjudged by the usually reliable Longmore and with the defence stretched, the Force forward raced through before dispatching a neat finish past the on-rushing Moores.
Half Time : Uppermill 1 - 2 Force United
Knowing a much improved performance was needed, 'Mill came out for the 2nd half, however, possession was still given away too easily and Force continued to be hungrier for the 2nd ball.
With a midfield battle dominating the early proceedings it was a decision by the Force management which changed the game.
2-1 up with 30minutes to play, Force took off both front men, and tried to secure the game, this immediately back fired as 'Mill became less stretched at the back and where able to work the ball nicely from back to front.
With 'Mill now in charge, the equaliser came when neat work by Fielding found Garbutt on the half way line, he beat his marker before racing to the edge of the Force area and poked home passed the on rushing keeper to level the game up.
2 soon became 3 when a long throw from Garbutt was flicked towards the penalty spot by a Force defender, only to drop to the right foot of Fielding, who smashed home on the volley leaving the away keeper no chance.
At this point, Forces ill discipline cost them the game, as they needed to regroup and retain possesion for a spell to settle back into the game. However, they became gung-ho which left acres of space at the back for the 'Mill front 3 to race into.
Which soon led to a 4th when a swift counter attack found Fielding clean through on goal, with a hat-trick on the cards the young forward unselfishly squared to strike partner Garbutt who tapped into an open goal net to extend 'Mills advantage.
With the game now becoming an end to end affair as 'Mill finally closed the game off as a contest when a cross from the left found Mark Anderson-Wild who lashed home a volley from the edge of the Force area, the quality of which hasnt been seen since Rob Faulkners goal in last season Semi Final against Aimbry.
Full Time : Uppermill 5 - 2 Force United
A shaky performance from 'Mill who never really got out of second gear against a feisty Force team, who with a little more discipline could challenge for Honours next season.
