Uppermill Girls Under 13’s  v  Moston Brook Under 13’s

Team - Lia, Robyn, Ella, Courtney, Olivia, Rebecca, Nicole, Gemma, Tara

12th October Kick Off 11.35am

Uppermill started the game against last seasons champions in a positive style attacking from the off, but just couldn’t find a breakthrough. Moston then punished Uppermill for not taking advantage from a corner as our keeper Lia was impeded and a Moston shot from distance found the top corner. However the goal saw the correct response from Uppermill who got their passing game going, with some strong flowing movement,Robyn’s through ball found Nicole who easily then found the corner of the net for her 10th goal of the season. Despite all Uppermills possession they could still not find a breakthrough to take the lead they deserved, and then Moston Brook had only theirsecond shot on target which was a direct free kick from the halfway line that flew into the top right hand corner taking them into the lead! This was a game that the girls did not deserve to lose, which is becoming to be a familiar story.

Well done to all the team for their effort and determination!!

Final score, Uppermill 1 Moston Brook 2

Uppermill Girls Under 13’s v Ashton Pumas Under 13’s

Team - Megan, Robyn, Gemma, Olivia, Courtney, Tara, Nicole, Ella, Lia, Rebecca

19th October Kick Off 11.35am

A full squad faced Ashton Pumas as Uppermill looked for a change in fortune, things looked promising for Uppermill as they took the lead when Nicole managed to lob the approaching keeper. This lead was short lived as Uppermill suffered from their seasons nemesis as a high ball into the area resulted in Ashton pulling level. The opposition now relied heavily on their break aways and long balls as they played three defenders at the back. Another break away run from an Ashton player followed by a powerful shot saw Uppermill fall behind, the girls tried to keep pushing for an equalizer but then fell further behind to another Ashton breakaway goal.

Final scoreline Uppermill 1 Ashton Pumas 3.

Girl of the game – Tara

Uppermill Girls Under 13’s  v  Heyside Angels Under 13’s

Team - Megan, Robyn, Ella, Gemma, Rebecca, Olivia, Tara, Courtney, Leah, Nicole,

28th September Kick Off 11.25am

The girls started the third game of the season with a full squad for the first time. However  Uppermill were just not able to get their passing game going this morning, although they did manage to go into the half time break 1-0 up thanks to Nicole who capitalized on a keeping error. It was hoped that Uppermill would then go on to score more after the break but werequickly unsettled within minutes of the second half starting when Olivia flicked a corner into the back of her own net that gave Megan no chance. Uppermill were left struggling to get a foot in the game and didn't seem like the team who would get the 3 points, but yet again they were grateful for Nicole to score her second of the game and eighth of the season by pouncing on another keeper error that provided a rather fortunate 3 points as Uppermill won 2-1.

Uppermill Girls Under 13’s  2 v Failsworth Villa Under 13’s 3

Team Megan, Robyn, Gemma, Rebecca, Courtney, Leah, Nicole, Ella

21st September Kick Off 11.25am

Uppermill approached the second league game of the season with mixed news, as both Olivia and Tara were unavailable but yet pleasing to see both Ella and Megan back for today’s fixture. Uppermill were slow out of the blocks and the quick direct football of Failsworth Villa saw them run ahead with a 2-0 lead. However Ella was pushed into the midfield which proved an effective substitution when she played in Nicole to pull a goal back. Uppermill suffered a few injuries with Courtney, Rebecca and Robyn having to come off at stages throughout the game.

However despite the interruptions Uppermill pulled level as Courtney picked the ball up on the halfway line and ran onto goal hitting a powerful shot into the back of the net. There seemed only one team in it now as Uppermill pushed for the winner with chances for both Nicole and Leah, unfortunately Failsworth caught Uppermill on the counter attack as a mis shot trickled into the bottom corner for a defeat the girls didn’t deserve, ending Failsworth 3 Uppermill 2.

Girl of the game – Courtney

Uppermill Girls Under 13’s  7 v  Denton Girls Under 13’s 1

Team – Leah, Robyn, Gemma, Courtney, Tara, Olivia Rebecca, Nicole

14th September Kick Off 11.40am

The girls started their first league match in a nervous fashion without their usual keeper, however it was soon evident this was not needed as Leah was clearly up to the challenge. Uppermill took the lead through a first time shot from Nicole that lobbed over Denton’s keeper and nestled nicely in the bottom left hand corner. Uppermill’s lead was short lived as Denton soon scored a break away goal, yet the girls continued working as a team and put to use the hard work of pre season training. By half time it was 3-1 with Nicole completing her hat trick, keeping up her prolific scoring record.

The second half saw the girls go from strength to strength, Nicole went from goal scorer to provider by laying a corner back to Robyn for her to power a left footed shot through a crowded area into the bottom left hand corner of the net. Courtney was next on the score sheet with a powerful shot from the right flying over Denton’s keeper and landing in the top left hand corner.  Rebecca was instrumental in midfield linking up play from back to forth and Uppermill played some excellent pass and move football, it was no surprise that Nicole went on to score two more goals.

Full time result 7-1! Well done to all the team for their contribution, with a special mention to Leah who’s handling was exceptional throughout !!

Girl of the game: Rebecca
