Boys Team 2001
U12s v 3Ds
Uppermill Whites 1 3D Dynamos 0
The whole team contributed to the win today, Adam was immense once again in goal and the defence of Cameron, Ewan, Sam and Nathan bravely tackled, headed and cleared anything that was thrown at them. In midfield, Reece was once again on top form and he received great support from the wide players such as Joe, Matthew, Rory, Will and Oliver. Going forward, we created numerous chances, often as a result of some very neat passing involving the midfield together with Thomas and Elias. Our goal came as result of some clever wing play by Oliver who crossed the ball to Rory, the ball found its way through to Thomas who placed it beyond the keeper. Our corners were a constant threat and it was only the brilliance of the 3D keeper that kept the score at 1-0. Joe had the ball in the back of the net in the second half but the ref said that it had gone out - this was a very marginal decision. Rick said that it was the best that he had seem the team play today, both individually and collectively. We have one more league game next week and then a league cup game on the 8th December. A good result today and a great team effort.
U12s V Heyside
Back to back games for me today as the Whites copied the blues victory over 3Ds with their own win over 3Ds, so after a tight win for the Whites it was straight into the Blues vital fixture against Heyside immediately above them in the league.
Last weeks mom Finlay was missing but we had a new player Jamie Bedford making his debut who went onto have a very accomplished game.
As often happens we started slow and Heyside went in front with their first shot after 4 mins, sloppy and not the start we wanted knowing that we must win all remaining 4 league games to claim the title, nerves jangling!
As the boys calmed down and started to play their football we pinned Heyside back with wave after wave of attack so when Josh Monaghan's piledriver rebounded to Josh Forshaw to tap in it was no more than we deserved, quickly becoming 2-1 when Josh Forshaw again didn't give up on a through ball and slid in from an acute angle.
Pryce made 2 difficult saves from longshots but in the main it was Uppermill bossing the game as we got to half time with a 2-1 lead.
Subs Tom,Kaleb and Jamie boosted the team when they came on and we started the 2nd half strongly creating lots of opportunities to score the vital 3rd. Heyside rallied though and within a 5 minute period started to overun our defence and midfield, Pryce with 2 worldy saves, the post then a last gasp tackle from George preserving the precious lead. And from our defence Jamie played a delightful through ball for Josh Forshaw to race away and smash in the bottom corner for a magnificent hat trick.
With the breathing space of 2 goals the boys relaxed and kept attacking Heyside with the knowledge that the title might come down to to goal difference , Liam fed Josh Forshaw and oozing with confidence he lobbed the keeper from 25 yards out for his 4th
I made a run of subs immediately after as the game was won but there was still time for Josh Monaghan to set up Kieran Green for his 2nd goal of the season from close range.
Heyside 1 Uppermill blues 5
1 down 3 to go, the title is very much in our own hands, we win the 3 games we win the league, a rollercoaster ride today against a determined Heyside team but all our players played very near to their best which we need right now.
Josh Forshaw was man of the match after his best performance of the season
We have our prestige semi against premier league Signol next week and with this level of performance we may just sneak into the cup final.
